NewspaperArchive database: trial for 30 days

NewspaperArchive is one of the leading digital databases dedicated to the collection, preservation, and consultation of historical newspaper archives. It provides libraries, archives, and academic institutions with access to more than 290 million digitized pages, covering over 17,000 newspaper titles from 48 countries, with chronological coverage ranging from 1607 to the present day. The collection consists primarily of local, regional, and small-community newspapers, as well as numerous publications from the 20th and 21st centuries. According to data provided by NewspaperArchive, approximately 85% of its content is not available in other major historical newspaper databases.

The platform allows users to conduct advanced searches across the entire corpus using:

• first and last names;
• keywords, with the option to search for all the specified words, an exact phrase, at least one of the specified words, or to exclude specific terms;
• locations, by selecting country, state, city, and, where available, a specific newspaper;
• date, year, or chronological range, with the option to search for content published before or after a given date and to expand the time window when the exact date is unknown;
• publication, by identifying a specific newspaper and browsing its available years;
• geographical browsing, to check which newspapers are available in a particular area;
• date-based browsing, which allows users to identify newspapers published on a specific day and subsequently conduct searches by name or keyword.

Search results can be filtered and sorted by relevance or chronology, and searches can be saved. Users can also bookmark results, collect pages and articles using the clipping tool, and organize content related to specific individuals. These features are particularly useful for genealogical research and for reconstructing biographies and family histories.
